David Kimmerle Blog

welcome to my blog which i will update as much as i can.

I am an over-eater and I like things that are not good for my body. I acknowledge I have an eating problem that is difficult to control on my own. I am committed to change my ways and take control of my health, weight, and lifestyle. My wish is to acknowledge my weakness and strike balance between the healthy lifestyle I want to live and my needs as a human being to indulge from time to time. I will reach my peak physical potential by taking educated bites and steps. I will educate myself about every morsel of food I cram into my body and appreciate how many steps it will take to work off a muffin. To reach this objective I know that I have to own my behavior. Others in life will probably not share my goals and both of our achievements will reflect that. I will not be influenced to do anything that will prevent me from reaching and maintaining my goal of a fun and healthy lifestyle. I have no excuse, I will not excuse and I am not an excuse. I will reach my potential and am in continuous competition with myself to do so.

I am David Kimmerle and I work everyday to be a success story.

6.22.10 Target Heart Rate- How to calculate your maximum heart rate?

(This is a very general way to get your rate and usually safe)

Subtract your age from 220. For example my age is 32, so I will take 32 from 220 and it is 188. (220-32=188)
Now I will multiply that number which for me is 188 x .70(which is more near the top of the fat burning zones for most people)  (188 x .70=132) the 132 is my target heart rate, basically if I keep my heart rate there for an hour I burn 60% fat or better. That is why I love the heart rate monitor. Every step and every minute accounted for.

I am a huge believer in staying in a fat burning zone during your cardio sessions if the intention is to burn fat. This specifically means that you keep your heart rate at between five beets of that zone the entire hour!  I love the different training in and out of the zones 1-2-3-4-5 and believe it works well to shock the body into burning fat. I have however seen the best success training hard and doing 60 minutes of cardio in my fat burning zone.  SO spend your hours at .70. When you have less time to invest or it has been a while since you have trained in and out of your zones, take it up to .80 and .90 and sometimes to failure several times in the time allotted.

5.2.10 Did YOU KNOW  that 1 gallon of water weighs 8 pounds!

If you are drinking a gallon of water or two per day you are fluctuating between 8 and 16 pounds. This is one reason and a small example of how many variables there are involved in keeping track of your gains and losses. I suggest you weigh yourself in the morning at the same time everyday to keep track of your efforts. How you read the scale is up to you. Is it a muscle for fat conversion so the weight plateaus?  Is it water retention? Is it a weight loss purely from fat? Is it muscle gain and fat gain during a bulking period? Is it the dreaded muscle loss and fat storage? With the accountability of the scale you can at least take the first step in keeping track of your efforts and hold yourself accountable to your goals. After weeks or months you will be in better communication with your body and the mirror will be your accountability. The mirror does not lie, neither does a picture. For me a picture is the best because I can then focus on a certain part of my body for building and know if overall I need to lose fat.

So, add some accountability to your life and reality, take your picture and look in the mirror if a scale is leading to too many conclusions. You can do this, never quit, build whatever your vision is of yourself; your body is a machine.

04.19.10 What gave you the drive to go for the transformation?

Question:

You must get fed up with strangers sending messages to you all the time. Can you tell me what gave you the drive to go for the transformation that you made to your body? I wish you all the success mate! With all the hard work you've put into it, you deserve it David !!!

Good to you:-)

Answer:

My answer is really honest and simple. I learned how to fuel my body, which changed everything. Honestly, I tried to go to the gym for years and nothing worked. Then I learned how to eat and with training, the two equaled three. When that happens your potential seems possible and attainable; after 1 month you can see the fruits of your labors.

Freakin show off the bumps you have earned or work off the fat while building muscle and show it off when the whole thing comes together. I became addicted to the fact that like a machine I can tune up this body. Crazy but if you eat and can control your urge to be normal or indulge or change a single part of your equation for success your body will do what you are making it. However it will fight you every step, you will listen to screaming conversations going on in your head telling you to do something different; the heck with that. If you can win that conversation for more weeks than not you will see changes beyond your dreams and vision. Not too many people have the mental strength to drink two gallons of water and take all the pills and eat 6 times per day and train tired (steroid free).

I am not special at all, just a guy willing to live on a desert island mentally and eat what is offered on that island. I hope this helps as I have had to relive what I have just said to you over and over again. In fact this e-mail is as much for you as it is for me. Good to you

Thank you David, you've told me what I needed to hear!!! You’re absolutely right in what you say! If we don't have the balls, determination & staying power ourselves, no one else can give it to us. So we have to tap into our inner strength & desire to succeed!!!!! I'm going to stay strong & stay strong!!! Thank you for taking the time to reply to me David :-)
Kind regards

Good to you. 1 last thing, I interviewed the girl who placed in the bikini contest at the Olympia and she told me that when she was dieting down she cried some of the nights fighting the conversations in her head. That gave me strength in a way acknowledging that I am not alone in my battle to beat the cravings and reach a potential I never dreamed of. Stay strong!
